Well after being blog free for past 2 meetings i thought i better pull together my day off and do something constructive
Was Round 3 of the Melville Championships at East Fortune,Tom Dickie Trophy Meeting This weekend and all week i was really hyped up for a win or to get really close with Mick and Paul.
Saturday Practice -
Wet,Wet And Very Wet
That's all you could say about it really, easy ride round the track to get up to speed again as it was over a month since i was last out at the previous round at Knockhill Everything felt really good apart from the tight old leathers.
Saturday Qualifying -
Was Still extremely Wet and horrible. Went out right at the front and tried to get some early quick laps in, but Bryan Duncanson and rob brown came past so obviously not going quick enough, Got back past Rob and Bryan had bolted away so i went after him and i caught him hand over fist, Was Pole with a 1:09:791 and Mick was 2nd with a 1:09:899.
Saturday 1st Race -
By This time lunch had past and so to many of those showery clouds, Track was dry and i was slightly nervous as i know im gona have to go some to keep up with Mick and Paul as they race more regularly than me and there bikes are WOW Quick compared to my bus Start wasn’t to shabby i think, Got away in about 3 or 4th but going down back straight after railway i was 2nd until the Paul's new r6 came shooting by, I was in 3rd for most of the race and the 2 leaders were tearing lumps out each other which was good to see, About lap 7 out of the 10 Paul ran wide at the Hairpin (Campbell's) onto the old track and he lost alot of ground, i Was up to 2nd and on the case of Michael, Never having been this close at this point of the race kind of awesome, so i had a wee go on the last lap going into esses 1 and i held the lead around esses 2, i then left the door open for Mick going onto the Hairpin and he just block past me so no way to get him back up to Hannah, Still 2nd Place and the Fastest Lap of the race was good start to weekend,1:02:133.
Saturday 2nd Race -
Still Dry which was ace but those showery clouds were causing havoc,Still went out on slicks and got an alright start was 3rd i think going into 1st corner and i stayed there the whole race, i stuck behind Paul and Mick and i had a wee oopsie coming out of the hairpin as i was in the wrong gear and they pulled away, So on lap 6 or 7 i had to get my finger out and try pull them back in. I was pushing so hard to catch them round the corners as that's my strong point that on lap 8 the front end tucked on me going into the hairpin, Sorry Hailey,Dad, Marti,Ema,John, For Falling off AGAIN lol The Bus was ok though just crack the front fairing AGAIN and Lost ANOTHER foot peg, which i later retrieved
Had the Fastest Lap again but not officially due to my oopsie
Mick Winner - 1:01:963
Stu On Butt - 1:01:923
Sunday
Marti's gearbox gave way on his blade so morning practice he went out on my 600 to see what like and race it n the afternoon to just get some points for his championship, So it was safe to say i was really nervous to watch my own bike out there. Good Job though Marti to rack some points on a random Bike
1st Race
Got a really good start and i was 3rd going into pates and 2nd coming out right behind Mick again, It was really sunny now and the track was lovely and grippy.
A Really tagged onto Mick early on not knowing that he had a problem with his brakes, his front calipers were leaking fluid so he was struggling to stop the thing, So i kept pushing and pushing and i went below him going into esses 1 and i never looked back and i went for it lap after lap to try brake him a little bit, And i was there on the last lap i was so chuffed to see that flag but back markers were here and there, and i went into the hairpin in neutral, I’ve never been so scared EVER!!!! but i click into gear coming out and i went on to win my 1st of many to come 600 Superstock race.
1:01:738 quickest I’ve ever went!!!
2nd Race
My Start Was rubbish!!! i don’t think it could of been worse to be honest,well maybe stalling it yeah!! before the race i was kind of rushing about so the warm up lap i had to get my head sorted out, Into Pates i must have been about 5th maybe 6th. so the whole race i was chasing Mick and Paul AGAIN lol so off i went after them once i got back up to 3rd and it was about lap 5 i got my head down and went for it but so did Mick and Paul as we all done our fastest laps on lap 5
Mick = 1:01:605
Paul = 1:01:685
Stu = 1:01:636
After pushing till about lap 7 i had a wee glance over my shoulder to see a huge gap so after seeing what happened on Saturday afternoon crashing from 3rd i wasn’t going to let it happen again, so i settled for 3rd and get some good points.
Big Thanks to My Dad,Marti Brown, Hilary,Mum,Johnny Day
