Hey All,Just recovered from East Fortune at the weekend
Well it was the Melville championship which meant i was out in the Formula Melville class with the usual lot of super bikes and anything else without a class.
Saturday
Well it was raining at the start of the day and the Mornings Un timed Practice was really Wet,I was going really well and getting back into the swing of things when until the 5th lap i had a MASSSSSIIVE high side exciting the right hander at railway.oooooopssss was fine at the time but im sore now!!!
Anyway's for qualifying it was Still wet( VERY WET) and i was really happy because it means the bigger bikes cannot use the power that much so i managed to put my self on POLE for all races over the weekend
1st Race was Bone dry and one of the only dry races all day and after the 1st lap i was back in about 5th or 6th as the big bikes whizzed past on the big straights!!! but i managed to pick my way all the way up to 2nd place about 7.7secs behind Dode Spencer on his R1,My quickest lap was only about 1:04:000,but the track was still damp in places.
And for the 2nd race for today i got a decent start and was 2nd into 1st corner but as always the big bikes Rocketed past me,But as it was kinda Wet and dry it was extremely greasy,So i managed to keep Dode Spencer and Alan bailey in site and by the end of the race i was under 2secs from the winner,And i got 3rd place So very good day but the weather was Kinda rubbish!!!
Sunday
Sunday was Brilliant as it was proper rain that i knew i had to take advantage of,i went out for the quick 10 min practice in the morning/afternoon as i was running bike in and getting used to my new Dunlop wet which I’ve never used before and it went well,So 15 min's after this i was out for the 1st race in the Wet!!!! Got an ace start and was 2nd behind Alan bailey and i kept with him until i got to twisty bits and i made my move after lap 3 i think, and once in the lead i just went for it,And i ended up winning race by more than 8 seconds over Dode Spencer and Alan bailey but also i got fastest lap,So i was going really well and it felt amazing to win again
The 2nd Race was looking good for me as it was yet again WET but it was drying up really really quick and my bike was over heating big time ,got up to about 80c and then my clutch started slipping after each gear change so i had to short shift,So i was lying in 4th about to go 3rd but i couldn’t as my bike was just not going to allow me to push any harder,Each lap got worse so i thought im best to just bring the bike home in once piece,After running on at Turn 1 and going back to 8th or something, i got back on and ended up finishing 7th . So was chuffed to bring it home with a slipping clutch and a handle bar grip that kept sliding off
This weekend was amazing as it made a change to be up the front and being the 1st 250 home out of the 5 x 250gp entries ,But looking onto September its looking really busy with dates but No cash so Fingers are crossed to get out as much as possible but ill keep u in touch,
Take Care
