This Weekend was probably the best weekend I’ve had of 2007,yes it was only a one day event but it was amazing racing,I was racing in 2
classes,The Lights & Libre Class and also the Northern Masters 250gp Class,The entry list look alright with Gavin Bell who got top 10 at Croft
for the ACU star and Paul Hedison who also runs at the Acu Star, but i only found that out when i got home yesterday:)
The day didn’t get off to the best of starts as i was about to go out for my 1st 4 lap Practice
and My Power valve came slack from the cylinder so i missed my practice but I Managed to get into the over 600 cc Practice though, The way this club does its qualifying is by a race,Now since I’ve never been before or raced in the Lights and libre class i started from Row 7 ( Dead Last )28th,Paul Hedison was out in this class so he took off and i caught and passed him and i won the Race but was 3rd overall behind the 2 big R6 Yamaha's who were in a different class same race,Then back into pit lane quick check and away i went for my Other class,This time i was on row 6 with the 125's on row 7,Mostly all the 400's in the Clubmans cup were at the front so this would be fun trying to get trough,I Managed to get up to 2nd behind a 400 on lap 1 then i passed him around the back, and i won this race outright this time and had the fastest lap as awell , :)
So technically i was going to be starting pole in both my Classes or so i thought,But in each class they put the cb500 and pre-injection class on the front and the 400's in front in my other class so i had a Row 4 starts in each race.
1st Race - Clubmans Formula 600 Pre Injection ,Libre & Lites
All the bigger bikes were at the front of the grid and then it was us Formula Lights from the 4th row back,This would be my 1st race at Cadwell and my start was alright that I remember, After the 1st lap I was up to 4th behind the three R6 Yamaha's I was pushing all the time to catch them and I got up to 2nd with a couple laps to go and the leaders bike was rapid so I kind of hand to settle for 2nd overall but I won my class outright with the Fastest Lap Being a 1:39:330.
2nd Race - Northern Masters 125 & 250 Gp / Clubmans F400
Yet again all the big 400's got away at the front and that left me on the 4th row again,I got another good good start and after the 1st lap I was up to 2nd behind a 400 but I managed to pass him going down the back straight,I got away and led for the rest of the race but I heard this bike come up behind me which was Gavin Bell he got around the Outside somehow going up to the gooseneck but I got right back inside of him going into the gooseneck and I knew I had to get my head down and I did break into a good lead of up to 6.3 sec's after that move,So I held on for the Win and a Fastest Lap of 1:37:911. Was Well chuffed at the time I managed to do as im basically racing myself with nobody to tag onto Follow who is quicker than me,
As for the 3rd Race the Clubmans Formula 600 Pre Injection ,Libre & Lites Class I never made it out in time due to the water/oil seel went Behind the impeller so I was really lucky to have stayed on the bike without crashing with the water leaking out badly, So we got this fixed in time for the last Race the Northern Masters Class,I was Absolutely Knackered and I knew id struggle to hold on but I couldn't not go out its Cadwell
4th Race - Northern Masters 125 & 250 Gp / Clubmans F400
As For my last race of the day I knew I had to get my head down early to try break Gavin bell as his New 2007 RsHonda 250 is rapid compared to my bike,
From the Start line I got off like a train and away I went,I was leading after the 2nd corner from the 4th row and it was brilliant to get away at the front,I knew Gavin would come after me but I kept my lead the whole race and I got another victory,And with myself being extremely Tired I got down to 1:38:274 so only about 300 thousands of a second out from the previous races fastest lap,
So overall another awesome weekend,4 Wins out of 4 Starts and My Crank still hasn't blown up yet and we don’t know how much longer until it does so that was good news.
Well the next outing will be where ever we can afford really so either East Fortune on the 21st and 22nd Or the following weekend at the NEMCRC at Croft, I can only afford one so im undecided what one to do but il keep you informed.
Stay Safe
