Well its that time of year again,The 1st Meeting of the Melville Championship at East Fortune.
This year i am competing in the Formula Melville Class which is basically a class for bikes that don’t have a class,So after looking at the Programme im out with the likes of Jimmy Storrar GSXR-750 , Wallace Mitchel GSXR 1000 ,Dod Spencer on his Mega Rapid R1 and Kirk Jamison on his Gsxr1000 which is 2nd in the Irish Superbike championship!!.There was a lot of Irish Lads Across on 250's which was cool,i think there was 7 or 8 Named in Programme like Paul Robinson and Barry Davidson,So we were all looking forward to see how i would get on in only my 2nd ever race meeting on the 250.

SATURDAY

Saturday Morning usual stuff like sign on and technical checks done and it was all good,The Weather was looking on the dodgy side but there was nothing unusual there just another normal weekend at the races in Scotland.
1st Un timed Practice was Dry so i got to use my new Shiny Dunlop's,It went Really Smoothly got about 7 Laps or so and the bike felt good,No Front end Chatter which was always a good start after all those Problems at the start of the year. Had a good look at all the new bits of track that the club have re laid over the past few months and i was going well and by the checkered flag no problems or hick ups.
2nd Timed Practice Was Wet,It was drizzling for ages just after my 1st Practice and the track was in between wet and dry 15mins before i was meant to go out but we stuck the Wets in and away i went , I went out right at the front to see if anyone passed me and to tag onto them if anyone did but nobody did so i just kept my head down,Each Lap i went quicker and quicker but at a pace i knew i was comfortable with,Sorry Dad for getting you worried hahahaha,But i Felt good passing a lot of riders and bringing the bike home in one peace .After the session Mr Pit Board Man John Day got me a Timing Sheet and i went 2nd Quickest just behind Kirk Jamison .And i was like 1.7secs Quicker than 3rd and 4th. So i was well Chuffed.
1st Race was now Dry as the winds got up and the sun pushed its way through .I was the 1st race after lunch so we put the slicks back in again and kept the fingers crossed that the weather wouldn't change.
Pulled up on Grid for like my 3rd ever Race line Start so Fun times here with big 1000's round about me .I got a not to bad start and i was 3rd going into 1st corner going down the back straight i knew i would get Destroyed by the bigger bikes and all i see is this blur of an R1 of Dod Spencer lol so i was now 4th,i done my best to try keep with him but down those 2 long straights it was hard to try get even close,Kept a good look at Pit Board and the occasional Glance behind and i was kinda lonely in 4th,Put in my fastest lap of race on lap 12 of 12 which was kinda funny as i was Knackered but i got down to a 1:03:717. The 2nd Quickest 250 was Paul Robinson who finished 6th with the fastest lap of 1:05:5,So 1st 250 home was always good and the 3 guys that beat me were on rocket ships so i done the best i could really.
The 2nd Race was Canceled as there was no time left due to stoppages throughout the day so i was over the moon as i was jiggered,Early Night in Bed was required!!!!!

Sunday

Sunday Morning Started off with an awesome breakfast by Pam Bond lol Thanks Mummy no2. Anyway's it had been raining since like 5am and my dad thought i had been doing a rain dance overnight as i was wanting it to rain so it would give me more level playing field with the bigger bikes .Morning Practice Got underway 9am sharp ish and the Wets were back on again,Got out the Pits up the back Straight and My clutch went Mental on me,It was slipping like mad,So i stayed out for 5 or 6 laps just short shifting to get used to the conditions,But after 1st lap i noticed my Pit board,i didn’t ask for one but Chris Bond Nipped down with some Personalised Plates,
I Come out of Hairpin and all i see in Thick orange letters " GET YOUR FINGER OUT",It was so funny,So i came back around again and the next one was "SEXY" and it went on and on with "GIRLY" and "PANTS", He had more but i came in due to the clutch,But i got vid clips of them showing them all to me which il have uploaded soon.
Moving on Slightly from that hahah,The 1st Race of the Day,Now this was looking Well Dodgy as there was a dry line but it was only small so we decided to go with slicks and by god did it pay off,Started from 2nd again and on the warm up lap it was really dry al around just a few wet spots here and there but it was looking good,i seen before i started that Kirk had these Intermediate things on and most other guys had full wets on, I got a not to bad of a start i was like 4th or 5th into 1st corner but rode around the outside of them all into 2nd through the 1st corner,Kirk Got a good start and he was about maybe 4 or 5 sec's ahead of me. going down from railway Dod Spence Came haring passed me but i rode round the outside of him and i held him off to keep 2nd,As it was only an 8 lap race i knew i wasn’t going be as tired but i was closing in on Kirk as i could see his tyre was sliding all over the place,on lap 6 i passed him on breaks going into Hairpin then he cruised passed me again on way up to Hannah’s then just as we approach last lap flag i passed him up the inside on the exit of the chicane and i knew i had to keep my head down for one more lap as he had a Mega fast bike,i was still leading after the back straight coming up to Railway then i managed to get through some back markers and Kirk said he got caught up and i knew if i got to the end of this straight coming out of railway id be safe,So as he got held up i got through the the bottom half of track with a an alright lead and i held it to the line and i was well chuffed,my dad said i didn’t get mentioned at all by commentator for winning but that's just my luck but when i got into pits i was congratulated by a lot of people and it was awesome,i only got down to a 1:04:004 but it was good for the conditions.
The 2nd Race was Dry again and it was up to nearly 20c, Everyone including Kirk was back on slicks and i knew it was going to be Hard,This time another 250 with Barry Davidson on board came along side me into 1st corner,i was like 4th this time behind Kirk,Dod and Barry on the 250,i Drafted passed Barry and got him on breaks but as we came onto back straight this 250 came raging passed,this thing was rapid so i knew i had a bit of a race,by this point Kirk was away and Dod was not to far in front of us 2, As my bike was down on power i knew i had to make it all up on the corners so i got back past Barry round the outside at the hairpin and i held 3rd from there with some strong laps to keep in front and i wasn’t too far behind Dod Spencer on his R1. At the end of the 10 lap Race i was near 5secs behind 2nd and even better my fastest lap was a 1:03:2.
But overall qualifying 2nd, Finishing 4th ,1st then 3rd in a grid of well named riders was awesome,and this was only my 2nd ever meeting,
Next meeting will be May 19th and 20th Back At East Fortune with the NEMCRC,
